My Background
I’m Lorena Thompson-Kerr, a 17-year-old A-Level student with big dreams of becoming a lawyer. My journey has been shaped by a love for law, social justice and making a difference. Whether it’s campaigning about potholes, contributing to a food bank, women's refuge, homeless initiatives and entering speaking and writing competitions, I thrive on creativity, advocacy, and connection. I fight against 'isms' and think that feminism without intersectionality is seriously flawed!
From achieving my first A* at 13 to interviewing a former Education Minister, I’ve embraced every opportunity to grow. Outside academics, you’ll find me crocheting (badly), exploring 90s music, or baking something dense in calories. I’m all about balancing ambition with the simple joys of life!
My Love of Words
I'm not sure where my love of words came from. Maybe because my mother is "Northern", my father is from the Caribbean... Maybe because I live in a home where everything is a debate... Perhaps because my primary school encouraged self-promotion and diversity... Likely a combination of all of the above!
My Ambitions
I’m driven by a vision of creating meaningful change through law. My dream is to become a lawyer who not only champions justice but also transforms lives by reshaping outcomes in cases that matter. Beyond my legal career, I’m passionate about education and aim to provide free or low-cost tutoring to ensure every child has access to opportunities, regardless of their background.
Looking ahead, I aspire to step into the political arena, where I can advocate for policies that promote equality, educational access and community empowerment. With determination and compassion, I’m committed to making a difference in both individual lives and society as a whole.
