I’m a 16-year-old A-Level student with big dreams of becoming a lawyer. My journey has been shaped by a love for law, social justice and making a difference. Whether it’s campaigningabout potholes, contributing to a food bank, women's refuge, homeless initiatives and entering speaking and writing competitions, I thrive on creativity, advocacy, and connection. I fight against 'isms' and think that feminism without intersectionality is seriously flawed!
From achieving my first A* at 13 to interviewing a former Education Minister, I’ve embraced every opportunity to grow. Outside academics, you’ll find me crocheting, exploring 90s music, or baking something delicious. I’m all about balancing ambition with the simple joys of life!
I'm not sure where my love of words came from. Maybe because my mother is "Northern", my father is from the Caribbean... Maybe because I live in a home where everything is a debate... Perhaps because my school encourages self-promotion and diversity... Likely a combination of all of the above!
I’m driven by a vision of creating meaningful change through law. My dream is to become a lawyer who not only champions justice but also transforms lives by reshaping outcomes in cases that matter. Beyond my legal career, I’m passionate about education and aim to provide free or low-cost tutoring to ensure every child has access to opportunities, regardless of their background.
Looking ahead, I aspire to step into the political arena, where I can advocate for policies that promote equality, educational access, and community empowerment. With determination and compassion, I’m committed to making a difference in both individual lives and society as a whole.
The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then -- to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn."

As we celebrate Black British icons like Diane Abbott, Malorie Blackman, Oswald Boateng, John Boyega and Dayo Olukoshi (Brampton School East Ham) we must remember that despite our gains, the struggle continues the struggle is real. Cornavirus, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Alexandra Wilson, Stormzy, Black Lives Matter Movement and so many more have shed light on the issue - an issue that Burns. Racism in schools and the British education system is a real concern. Black children are let down by the UK education system. I am a 12-year-old determined to make a difference! 2020 Black History Month is different!
